DSC to expand SlotsArkaderne to include apartments and greater detail

With the expansion of the shopping centre SlotsArkaderne, residents in and around Hillerød can look forward to a brand new H&M store covering 2,500 sqm on two floors and student and youth accommodation at the top floor of the extension.

SlotsArkaderne opened in 1992 in the middle of Hillerød and has since then been a popular shopping centre with a strong attachment to the local area. DEAS undertakes the daily management of the centre on behalf of Danica Pension and ATP Real Estate, and as consultants on the project they have ensured a smooth process from idea development and tender management to entering into an agreement with the turnkey contractor.

A development-based approach to centre management
To ensure that SlotsArkaderne maintains its position in Hillerød in future, DSC has decided to expand the centre by more than 3,000 sqm of which 2,500 sqm will be dedicated to a large H&M store on two floors including H&M Home. With the extension, Hillerød also gets 13 new and attractive student and youth residences situated centrally and close to the pedestrian street, cafés and shops. In other words a location that is appealing to students and young people, says Finn Sture Madsen, Department Manager in DEAS.

He underlines that the strategy behind the expansion of SlotsArkaderne is in line with DEAS' development-based approach to centre management.

In 2015, DSC bought the building next to SlotsArkaderne, and this investment has paved the way for an expansion of SlotsArkaderne. The centre stays open during the entire building process which will be a minor inconvenience to customers and existing tenants as it mainly takes place in the building next to the existing centre. When the centre as a whole gets a facelift, the outdoor area on Danners Plads near SlotsArkaderne will also be repaved. The latter will be take place in a collaboration between DSC and the municipality of Hillerød.

The building project has been ongoing since the summer of 2017. AK83 Arkitekter were the architects behind the building of SlotsArkaderne and they are also responsible for the extension where H&M opens on the 1st of November 2018.
